PANDAWA BEACH VILLAS - KETEWEL Just north of Sanur
Trip to the other side to watch sunset & the boats go out over breakfast.
Nice beach front villa, huge glass slididng doors & windows everywhere. 3 girls polishing them to near invisibility. Sternly warned by MR B to wear my glasses & not walk into them later. Hmmm!
The butler informs us breakfast is not until 7am & boats are not leaving because(sounds like an Oxymoron to me)there is too much water.
At first glance a dirty black beach full of rubbish.
Oh well! the infinity pool looks nice.
After a few hours of lounging we became bored with each others company, you get that after 38 years together. ;)
OK! Cocktail hour.
I walk over to the bamboo deck they had built over the water. While waving to the man raking the rubbish digging a hole and burying it, I notice a man fishing off the beach. "Eureka".
Time to take cocktail & Bof for a walk.
I unlock the big wooden gates that keep the riff raff out & we wander down the beach. Mr B was very happy to see that big rod so I left him taking photos of the days catch. Which FYI was half the size of the bait we use at home.
On closer inspection the rubbish was just flotsam & jetsam the odd thong, drift wood, dog sleeping, or is it a pig? what is that?
It was a dead dog with no hair that just looked like Babi Guling. It was a bloater so it must have been a floater & come in with the tide.
The sand was a black carpet studded with diamonds which made me happy because B made me leave the crown jewels at home
So, I decided to help the little old lady with no teeth & a basket on her head collect drift wood.
We chatted for 10mins, well she did I could'nt understand a word she was saying. It was probably "Bugger off you stupid tourist". Anyway she did not like my choices of wood, we agreed to disagree on what was gnarly & what knot & I gave her some blue notes for setting me straight. They must have been acceptable because she threw them in the basket.
By this time the beach was filling up with interesting people, holidaymakers from Java, locals, kids playing soccer, man on horse etc etc. We stayed played, chatted for a few hours had a great time & nobody tried to sell us anything.
Then back to the big quiet boring villa.
This will sound corny but I left my heart on Ketewel beach & really do LOVE Bali now.
Back at the Room mixing cocktails B is taking photos of villa at night with all the lights on. All of a sudden BANG!
He hadn't heeded his own stern warning & walked into the glass doors.
He did this several times that night.
So if you were in the villa next door I apologize for these sounds.
BANG! F@CK! (ROFL) BANG! F@CK! (ROFL) BANG! F@CK! (ROFL)...
We have some good photos & would love to share, but need a teenager to show us how. It may take awhile to find one of those.
P.s. No animals or locals were harmed in the making of this JBR. We are poking fun at our own lifestyle not theirs. I almost envy them.
