No, they can't interfere with satellites. The reason is that in different countries, cordless phones operate on different frequencies. We have the odd issue in Australia whereby an imported Chinese cordless phone operates in the amateur/ham radio band, causing interference.
Perhaps the cordless phones from other countries fall right in the middle of their police or fire band? I don't know.
