There is a direct flight from Pt Hedland to Bali either 7, 14 or multiples. Same price to fly to Perth. Lots go to Bali because it is cheaper than flying to Perth and some employers pay for Bali instead of Perth to keep staff happy and it costs no more. Some meet wives/girlfriends in Bali etc,
I have done the flight and 1 hour 50 in the air is hard to take.
In the Tony Barrass article he implied that Australians cause the rubbish on Lombok. So many facts wrong with his article and I also wonder if he went to bali or if he did just sat at a hotel and wrote his story, The old saying with newspapers "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story." Controversy sells papers.
