St Regis Nusa Dua
Boneka Restaurant.
Brunch only on Sundays 11 am till 3pm. Advise you to book.

Arrived at 11 and we were escorted to the King Cole Bar for our pre brunch cocktail. Wendy choose their signature drink the Bloody Mary and I ordered an American Mint Lemonade, both were so good we ordered seconds. There was a pianist playing a baby grand which added to the decadence as we soaked up the impressive surrounds.

At noon we were ushered into the Boneka Restaurant. I wasn't sure where to look. There were tables and tables of the most amazing presented foods and behind a stainless servery were 7 or 8 white capped chefs awaiting orders and requests. Where to start - it was all too much so we sat at our very plush reserved booth and were approached by waiters asking if we would like to try some of the temptations on their trays. We both had cheeky grins and thought this is table service to the max.

There were sommeliers trotting from table to table offering every sort of beverage imaginable. There were more juices on offer that I can possibly list and if you wanted a particular combination it was promptly prepared for you. My favourite is lychee & lime and I enjoyed a few.

We had only booked for the brunch not the beverage package so free alcoholic drinks ceased at 12. We began our tasting sensations. What I sampled was too much to remember and I was too busy tasting to write much down but here are a few of my delights.
*Fresh shuck oysters with coriander and lime drizzle
*Lobster ragout( eggs filled with parsley cream and topped with salmon rice)
* Mini Salmon Quiche
*Prawn Cocktail
*Crispy fried Potato Cakes (my only disappointing dish)
* Chipolatas served with melted onion & sour cream
* Sushi, Sashimi & Dim-sum
Every imaginable egg combination & dish was available .
Wagyu Beef, Lobster & gourmet foie gras
French toasts and croissants
River Lobster omelette with wild arugula leaves ( I never thought rocket could taste so good )
Soups- I tried small servings of a couple and was tempted to go again but there was so much else on offer.
By this stage my taste buds and gut was in melt down not know what meal they were so enthusiastically partaking in.

I had to get up and venture over to the many serveries. There were so many dishes. I rushed past the desserts including the chocolate fountain and stood mesmorised by the beautiful savoury French pastries. So delicate and so many - I could picture myself having one of each. I gathered a large plate and began placing a mixture of offerings. I felt that I had to explain to fellow diners that it was also for my friend who wasseated back at our table.
There is also a table menu which you can order from and the selection on this menu left me gobsmacked.

I ventured over to the cheese and bread selection and much as I wanted to have a suitable serving I resisted as there were at least 50 desserts to try and a few interesting caviar combinations.

How many varieties of brulees are there and the humble tiramisu took on a new guise.
Fruits of every kind with jellies, yogurts and creams. An ice-cream section and no mum saying ‘you've had enough- you'll make yourself sick'.

Over in a dedicated corner was a clown - attired in the brightest of garments making popcorn, fairy floss and balloon animals for the kids. His booth also had a TV with DVDs.
The adult entertainment was a cellist, a pianist and a vocalist who sang every Natalie Cole song on her Unforgettable album and many more similar songs.

When it was almost time to leave I asked the waitress if it was possible to have a copy of the menu. Her very positive response and nodding delighted me but my pleased expression soon changed when I was asked 'cappuccino, late or flat?'. Copy & coffee do sound similar.

We made our way to the unobtrusive cashier at the door and gladly handed over our 495.000rp. The mere experience was worth every rupiah. As we drove back to down town Legian and I couldn't share the experience with the driver because a wave of guilt passed over me when I thought how many meals his family could have for my 4 hours of decadent indulgence. This was the most amazing dining feast and delight I have ever experienced. Thank you Wendy for suggesting that we try it. Extravagance at this brunch is an understatement.
