We were scammed into this :( Our son bought an umbrella that wouldn't fit into our suitcases so they MADE us pay 100,000 rupiah to tape it to our suitcase. We argued as we knew it would be broken at the end of the trip and we would be down $10 but to no avail. Even the guys at Garuda asked why we did it as it wasn't necessary. Hence, when we arrived in Sydney, our son's umbrella was broken and we were down $10. Just tell them you don't have the money, thats what our friends did and they were left alone.
