you carry a pool noodle with you. They are buoyant,light, portable and come in many colours so as to be easily matched with every singlet you own. You are allowed to take them on the plane and they will not injure anyone should they become dislodged during flight and fall from the overhead locker. On arrival they attract no attention from customs and so bring no contribution to the airport workers Galungan party. They make a satisfying slapping noise when whacked onto the pool water at your hotel or in fact at any hotel but especially satisfying at those town houses in Kuta because they cause Pak Denis to go totally troppo and divert the kids from playing Marco Polo for a while.
