My 18 year old son has just been himself. I managed to get an extra indonesian arrival/departure card on the plane on ourlast trip a couple of months ago so we were able to fill it in with him prior to travel. Whilst not helping him through the airport it was one less thing he needed to think about.
I'm pretty sure on the plane if he asks someone they'll be happy to help him through the process.
It will all work out well
