We are also staying at MBR shortly and worried about the same reports. I had a look at trip advisor and no two people agreed. But they never agree on other properties either.
We stayed at MBR in 2010 and were in a Deluxe room. No problems here and none of the stated problems with staff.
We are glad to be returning on 14 May. It is in a great position on the beach and just far enuf out of Kuta to feel safe.
Yes the grounds were a little unkept but we are only around the grounds to have brekky and to leave and return. We love MBR for the great price and position. Might see you round the pool!!
