Hi Roz, I had this happen once and it was really uncomfortable...my toes looked like little fat sausages sticking out the end of my foot!! Still have the photos!!
Before I went to a hot climate again, I went to my doctors and she recommended a diuretic which I carried with me on several trips later but strangely it never happened again.....until I didn't have them with me (they'd gone out of date)!! Luckily I was in Thailand and just got some over the counter and they helped within a day or so.
Touch wood...I haven't needed them again. I wonder what triggers it to happen just sometimes?
I find that even though it helps relieve the discomfort to raise your feet and soak them in the cool pool it doesn't help the swelling when you again have to go out walking!
