Finally have got 2 seconds to jot something down. I somehow got the flu in Bali and have been crook since we got back on the 18th.

Flew virgin from Perth on the 6th April. Checked in bags, all good, up to airport lounge for a champers and to get some dinner before boarding. One sip of my champers and my phone rings. Luckily I heard it as the pub was a bit noisy. It was airport security. "excuse me madam but we were just Xraying your bags and we have found what appears to be bullets in one of them"

WTF???? I ask the lady to hold for a sec - "Oi Boss apparantly there are bullets in our bags how can this be? "

No idea he says - tell them I will come down and see whats going on. Down the escalator he goes and ten seconds later my son (12) says "mum I am just going to tell dad something!" and then he took off.

The upshot of the whole thing was that yes the little turd had decided to take some bullets with him in his toilet bag (?) as he is a bit of a magpie. They were only casings he had picked up somewhere and they werent active. The boss is from a farming background and sometimes takes the kids shooting for target practice out the farm.

Half an hour later and not too happy having to explain to the Federal Police why we have bullets in our bag - the boss finally comes back and says its all sorted. Lesson learnt - always check the magpies bag before checking in!!!

Anyway finally we land in Bali - a bit of a wait through immigration but straight through customs and into our car. There was a bit of a walk but nothing major.

The villa I have reviewed on another post - but was all in all pretty good and a damn good location. I would stay there again but the boss wouldnt.

Things we did.

The dolphins in Sanur. This was worth every cent. standing on a platform for 40 minutes whilst patting the dolphins and they were doing tricks. We all got hugs and kisses from them and it was obvious they were loving every minute of it. The whole family agreed this was the best thing we have ever done in Bali.

Also did the Bali Baik Bike ride - great fun - although I only did half of it and piked out the last half. Lunch at Wayans compound was fantastic - best food we had so far. The whole thing was a great experience and I would recommend it.

Tanah lot

This was a beautiful sight. although I couldnt believe how crowded it was - definately worth going to - I hadnt been in years and it was all new and fresh again. There is a reptile place there with some awesome snakes and lizards. Well worth a look.

We were invited up to Bennys family village for lunch (those of you who frequent Billys will know who Benny is although he doesnt work there anymore). He picked us up and drove us up to Tabanan which was a lovely drive. His family were very welcoming and although they couldnt speak any english it was a fun afternoon with wonderful food and very relaxing.

Places we ate.

Lanai - great food - good menu for kids too - reasonable prices.

Gateway of India - ate here a couple of times - always fantastic food and the kids eat next door at the Bush Telegraph where we can see them. They love to feel grown up and be eating by themselves. They also loved the fact that they got a cold wet towel there while we didnt at GOI!!

Yutz - didnt really like the food here - in fact we wont go back.

Billys - Food here was not fantastic - most of the old staff are gone and its not really the same anymore :(

Echo Beach - loved this place - fantastic on the edge of the water and the bbq was awesome. Salads were great too with a wide range of fresh salads to choose from. Band was great although we didnt stay for too much of it as the kids were tired.

Goodys - I always like Goodys for the pizza although the place can get a bit hot. Always worth a visit.

Warung Yogi - we ate here and while it was ok - I couldnt see what all the fuss was about - food was ok but twice the price of any other warung. Wont go back here.

Un's - by far the best place we ate at. Also the best service we had anywhere.

And a bottle of Hattens white was about 30,000 cheaper than bintang supermarket! I had 2 entrees as I couldnt pick - there was so much to choose from. I had the gnocci and the ravioli - both were to die for. We will definately go back here.

Sorry this is a bit short and disjointed but I am trying to catch up at work as well LOL
