and yes it is a problem. Go get one now - see what happens is at check-in, any good checkin agent is supposed to check the validity of a passport. if we dont and you travel, you can be refused entry and the airline has to pay a $5grand to $10 grand fine - depending on country. As a checkin agent, we personally get a warning on our file which is not good, so you cant bribe a checkin agent to turn a blind eye - it wont work. An emergency passport is pretty easy to get these days with a turnaround of about 48 hours. Good warning to all to check your passports. I personally have refused acceptance of 6 passengers during my 7 years in the industry and in all the cases it was the little ones passports. Ofcourse, it was always left to the mother to stay behind and sort it out as the men USUALLY elected to choof off!
