I have done both arrived in bali by myself at 12 midnight walked out and got a taxi no problems, last time arrived at about the same time but got a driver to pick me up, my booking for the hotel was by phone and I knew the driver was from the hotel so I would not have a problem with my accommodation as I didnt have email confirmation.
