All the health issues have been covered already but another thought came to me about this. Every time I've seen a baby that's been taken to Bali, the kid just never looks like they're coping well with the heat. They always look hot and uncomfortable and just generally not pleased.

I don't have kids but I've watched babies of friends and family and they seem to struggle on hot summer days at home. In Bali, that's mostly every day - especially in January when it's quite humid most of the time.

Plus, they always seem to have problems with the flights. A friend flew from Sydney to Brisbane for a family holiday a few years ago when her son was under 1 year old. He burst an ear drum on the flight and it took the doctors nearly a week to work out why he wouldn't stop crying.

I can't really think of too many positives to taking a very young child to Bali, but there seems to be plenty of reasons not to.
