Maybe I'm getting old and my memory is failing me, but most items were priced on the shelves from what I recall. If there was no price it was no problem to use the scanner in the middle of the store to check it. Never had a problem getting staff to price things if I couldn't find a price myself.
I can't imagine myself 'shopping blind' either, so the pricing must have been apparent on most things for me to continually shop there over the years - especially with mini marts and other options close by.
