First time to Bali for me was 1983. Did not stay at Suriwathi then. Have regularly stayed at Suriwathi over about the last 5 years. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, large (deluxe), and the pool is good. Breakfast basic, but I never have a big breakfast at home, nice garden, regular clustomers that I have got to know, Still good value for money.
I remember when Legian area was a dirt road. It was a real trek from Kuta to Legian with many traditional stalls, few fixed price shops. Cassette shops where I spent hours listening to music via headphones. Every drink order ended with no ice...."
