Have a great time. Perhaps some advice would be to not get caught up in comparing the 'then and now'. Bali 20 years ago is completely gone in the area you are going to, and Kuta will be unrecognizable to you.
Just take it for what it is, and what it has to offer to you now. Sounds like that is your intention anyway :)
