about getting your friend to write and sign an Affidavit and having it witnessed by JP explaining why their card was used and who you are and if you have to present that to them at the airport you are ready. I have never been asked to show my creditcard. I book the tickets go away first and my husband comes later and has also never been asked. Also with whoever your bank is, its a security measure that you must inform the bank of the dates you are going to be away and where, when going overseas to protect you and the bank of any transactions that may not be yours. We once had this problem, and lucky we had enough cash. Stand your ground at the bank and ask that you have proof that your card is activated available to be used overseas. Tell them what has happened to you, and I would also ph the Card Services Centre and explain what has happened through the bank and your card not being activated and insist they help you.
Hope this helps you. Cheers
