the time of day makes a huge difference when you are travelling around, just the same as at home.
Balinese/Indonesians are not great ones for an early start and people on holidays are often of like mind.
The trick is to try to clear the mad south well before 9am.
Once into Gianyar area it's easy to get about.
When returning it's harder once back into Denpasar/Kuta etc area, but your day is done then and mission achieved.
Enjoy the other places you travel to.....each to their own.
