When in Bali last December I was in Bali Rock Cafe in Melasti st Legian they had and advert on the screen for phone rental, it cost me Rp 100,000 about $11 Aus for 7 days hire plus the same amount for my calls and text to Aust, bargain, I had calls from Aust to me in Bali included in that price, I don't think it costs to receive calls from Aust in Bali using a local mobile. They also had free WiFi so I could get my emails on my iphone also, just make sure the roaming is turned off. There was an Aust lady there and a local guy who was a wizard with phones.
