It's really easy to get a driver from Ubud to Kuta via wherever you want - the normal day/half day rates apply depending on whether 4 hours or up to 8 hours.
Drivers are plentiful - there are no taxis in Ubud so unless you have your own transport everywhere you go beyond walking distance you'll have to hassle with a driver - a huge pain.
But for day or half day trips the prices are the same as on the coast. Drivers wear brownish batik shirts & hang out around hotels - usually have a sign.
If you have a favourite driver in Kuta environs then he will no doubt be happy to go to Ubud to collect you for no extra $.
