for everyone travelling to Bali. I'm not surprised that there was no stretcher or de-fib available, the response to illness or accidents is quite different in Bali to other countries. "Rubber time" and lots of talking applies to emergency situations. Things like check lists, procedures and accountability which is drummed into us, is not seen to have the same importance as it does in western countries.
On many an occasions I've seen important equipment which rarely received the correct maintenance or any maintenance at all for that matter. It's quite amazing how often equipment disappears and absolutely no one has any idea where it's gone or anything about it.
Travel Insurance can be dicey when it comes to some claims. It's always a good idea to read "what isn't covered". The deceased may very well of been taking it easy throughout the entire night, enjoying a drink every now and then, dancing and chatting the night away with new friends. The clinic would have taken blood and the results recorded. Than a copy of this would have been requested by the insurance company. Even if the deceased had been a fraction over their cut off point, the insurance company would have used it to their advantage.
Please don't see this as me standing in judgement, I'm not. I'm trying to explain that Bali runs by it's own set of rules and it pays to plan for the unexpected when holidaying there.
