Technically, there is no such thing as an International License. What you can get is a translation of your Australian license, which is called an International Driving Permit, or IDP.
You get it from the motoring body in your state (NRMA,RACV, RAC etc)

It translates your driving licenses in Australia into a number of languages. You are only endorsed to drive what is on your Australian license (so, for example, must have a motorbike license to be endorsed for that).

You must still carry your Australian license with you overseas, and the IDP. If your Australian license expires, so does the IDP. Otherwise it lasts for one year.
