Yes, you have to pay a tax to leave Indonesia. I paid Rp 150,000 three days ago. They only accept Rupiah cash.
When I arrived in Bali on 25 February 2012, they were accepting $A25 in cash or $US25 in cash as the full price of the VOA. This would change if the $A falls/rises substantially against the $US.
