but there is plenty of good stuff to buy in Bali.
You need to know what you are looking for, and how to arrange the deal.
There are excellent shoe and clothing deals at 50% off what you pay in Australia for instance.
Pay $60 for a pair of $120 shoes, no problem.
Pay $60 for a $140 heavy jacket no problem.
Pay $12 a meter (landed) for tiles $30 a meter no problem.
Look at car care products, look at razor blades, look at some coffee beans, look at curtains and blinds, look at some electrical fittings....all no problem.
There is more to buying stuff than shorts, tee shirts and wooden phallic bottle openers.
It just depends on what you are looking for, and how experienced you are at finding it.
Certainly some "cheap crap", but this is where the experience of the traveller shows.
