When we went 3 years ago my son was pattting the baby tiger, a little too close to his groin, and his head swung around very fast, no way he was drugged, very alert and aware. The organutang was runny around and very playful. We also got to pat and feed a very happy and interactive you elephant at Taro. I think it is wrong for you to assume that all animals are drugged so that westerners can hold them. But if you are unhappy about the treatment of animals in Indonesia of course it is your choice not to frequent such places.

I think it is a wonderful opportunity for our kids to have a quick pat and photo, something that is very limited in Australia. Of all the animal park we have visited here in Australia, there are only a few that stil let you pat some of the animals, such as symbio. Or sea world if you pay acordingly.
