2nd trip in 4 months to our second home, travelled with my 7 year old son on Virgin Blue. Flight was good except for a uncontrollably screaming child behind us only to be moved further down the plane and replaced with 3 girls who liked to argue and kick the back of the seats constantly. I don't understand why some parent's don't bring enough to keep the kids amused for the flight, it would save a lot of heartache for them and other passengers. Flight was a tad bumpy as we flew over the cyclone up North and into Bali otherwise was uneventful.
Our previous other 6 trips were spent at the Bali Garden but as we were having a cheaper holiday we decided to try Kuta Station across the road, I was a bit worried about staying at this hotel as it didn't have very good reweiws. The staff were all very nice and helpful and were always available for anything that was needed. The rooms were nice, beds were very comfortable, there were a few mosquitoes in the room but they had provided spray to use and I have had that problem at BGH also.
The bathrooms were a bit grotty, showers needed a good scrub but i'm not too fussy so it didn't really bother me much. Breakfast was not too bad, I had eggs a couple of days but pretty much stuck to toast and fruit. We had meals at the restaurant, lunch and dinner which was not amazing but quite good.
Waterbom was closed while we were there so decided to go to I think it was called "Green Park?" near Dreamland Beach. This was fantastic for kids (We had 6 with us in total) plenty of slides, playground and flying fox which my son loved. It was only 100 000rp per person to get in and you had to pay extra for the tube hire for the day, but that was only about 15000rp from memory. There were slides for the adults also and plenty of options for lunch, a great day was had by all...the pools are a bit slippery though as you are trying to walk as I discovered when I went as* over tit much to the delight of everyone watching!
Went to the Safari Park also as we had people with us that had not been before, this was about my 6th time there so it was the same old same old really, still a good day out but have seen it all before.
Also went to Ubud for the day to the Monkey Forrest, a friend had tried to hide banana's in her pocket which led her to get 2 monkey's hanging off her and her son to scream and cry thinking they were trying to kill her...it was pretty funny though! Also went to the markets and had lunch at the Dirty Duck which was fantastic as usual.
Ate at the Boardwalk a couple of times, Un's which is always amazing as are their frozen margarita's, Ultimo's in Seminyak = fantastic.
The weather was very muggy but it only really rained 2 days we were there which was good, didn't stop the kids going swimming though.
Looking forward to the next trip in November, girls trip no men no kids...cant wait!!
