We took our children to Amed snorkling ( 8 and 10). The issue we had was that it was very very rocky and it was hard for them to try to walk into the water with their flippers on. In the end only one of them got into the water.
On the other hand we took them snorkling off a local boat on Gili T and it was much easier for them to get into the water from a boat.
