went in Feb. When I booked I used my passport number but before we left I had to get a new passport and hence received a new passport number. Took my old passport to the airport. booking in at AAsia, They did not care. They just wanted to ensure correct spelling of my name which was correct. It did not matter that the booking was a Mrs and I am a Mr. Travelled both ways as a Mrs. When I got to customs the officer said he was not interested in my old passport or the number. He just wanted a current passport.
