We bought it for him when he was nearly 3 years old - he is now 6. Hubby used to pull him along, but as he is much taller now rides along on his own (using his own leg power). He also pulls it along himself so we don't really have to carry it until we've picked up checked-in bags. We take it as cabin baggage & he packs all his entertainment stuff in it for the flight. He can easily open & close it. Quite amazingly, they can hold up to 50 kilos in ride-on mode. I suppose, due to the fact that they are not cheap, you'd have to work out if it was worthwhile depending on how much use you think you'll get. We travel up to Bali at least once a year, plus other trips & for us, it's been an invaluable purchase, but each to their own. If you're in Australia, have a look at the Peter's of Kensington website as they often have them a bit cheaper :)
