My advice would be to at the very least book your first two nights accommodation. That way you have somewhere to go and if included, some places have airport tranfers to meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation. This will give you some time to go out during the day and hunt for accommodation once you arrive.
Imho, you would be much better off booking your Lombok accommodation in advance, as you will have certainty and a destination to go too.
