Hotels vary from expensive to budget. Watergarden former. Long strip of budget hotels along seafront- one I like is the Natia middle of town. Few spots to swim in CD proper though you can go to White Sands beach a couple of km east. If you're into diving, there are several schools and hire spots. Good restaurants just east of the lagoon on both sides of the road. If there in the day waitresses hand out menu sheets so you know what you're in for. Just about every meal I've had has been good and worth the money (as usual in Bali).
If you just want a quiet place to relax CD is the perfect spot.
