We go to CD every year for a month. It is ideally a place to relax and watch the world go by. We have stayed at Rama CD many times but now stay at Aquaria. It is a tranquil oasis owned by 2 Kiwis who are aquarian therapists. It's located on the waterfront - accessed down a track off the main CD road where it bends on the way to Amlapura. Food in CD is varied, cheap and good. Friends - for basic Indo (Ayu does a fantastic Beef Rendang - with 24hr notice); Vincent's for more Western-style (they do a great steak and pate); Candidasa Cafe - good mixture of Western and Indo (try the antipasto entree - with grilled eggplant); LeGong for a magic Babi Kecep; Aquaria - fresh seafood and salads (you have to try the plum pudding with arak custard); Warung Astawa - great pork satay. Just wander down the main road and try any place. We've never had a bad meal anywyere At CD you are not very far from Amlapura, the capital of the region. The market there will fill your eyes and nose with overwhelming exotic sights and smells; take an outrigger over to the White Sandy Beach (we use Mr Sleepy - located at the Lagoon). Unfortunatey, the beach is now very tourist orientated and busy. Great place to have a whole grilled snapper and some gado gado; Go on a day trip to Amed - as Broome Time said, the views on the way are awesome. There are many warungs where you can sit on the beach with your feet in the sand and have a great lunch. Once you've been to CD you'll probably never go anywhere else in Bai.
