When I first bought it, I needed to trek into the nearest Gallery to pay for the following month.
Smartfren Gallery staff told me when I renewed in February that you can increase your pulsa through ATM transfer and if credit is sufficient, your programme will be automatically renewed.
I also received a SMS from Smartfren (in Bahasa Indonesia) last month a day or so prior to my expiry date that if sufficient credit was there my monthly unlimited plan would be automatically extended.
Perhaps it's worth a chat with Smartfren Gallery staff.
