I will never ever forgot and it still sends chills down my spine to this day. Our first ever trip to Thailand. There an hour and my husband was ran over, haemotoma to the brain, stitches, broken arm, leg, shoulder and unconscious for 3 days. Our 11 day trip was spent in Bumrungrad Hospital Bankok. Aviation doctors cleared him to fly 11 days later on the condition that a Thai Dr flew back with us. My back had seized up due to the stress and the fact the red shirts were protesting outside my hotel, where I was staying alone! I was then admitted as well for the last 4 days. We finally left the hospital with the DR in tow. We were given pain killers to prepare for the flight and sleeping pills an hour before we left the hospital. We both had IV drips in so the meds could be given on our flight, It was only natural I would be a little hazy after the medication. We cleared customs and boarded our flight. Our DR seemed to be searching for something and appeared quite confused. This reminded me to the fact the nurse back at the hospital had given me a bag to give to the DR before we left the Hospital. I passed the DR the bag as we sat down as it was neatly packed in my cabbin luggage. At this point the DR opened the bag and went as pale as I have ever seen a person. He explained the IV drugs I had in vials in my luggage were enough to be jailed for life in Bankok and could not believe I had got through customs. I have never forgotten this and still think how lucky I was. Who in their right mind would mindfully carry drugs anywhere in this world. It truly makes me sick.
