Thanks for your suggestion. Yes i found a better option than western union. A company called UKForex Ltd who are a subsidiary or OZForex.
They are currency traders / brokers - and they arranged my transfer for me. Very good rates. (200rp below spot),and Western Union (600rp below spot, and Travelex (800rp below spot).
Best of off - first two transfers we free of charge. And after that the charge is £9. (AUD$15).
It was difficult finding a broker in the UK that could transfer Rupiah, which i was surprised by - but then maybe as a country we just don't have much need for it? I'm sure in Aus there are many many options.
