the continuation of our little trip...

Started off the morning with breakfast at Shandy's (1 weetbix, 2 plain pancakes, 1 banana pancake, 1 mixed juice, 2 choc milkshake and 1 iced coffee) Rp191,000. Then grabbed a cab and headed out to Biarritz. Spent Rp635,44 but that included 8 of the larger type placemats, a mortar and pestle like the one used at the cooking school, wooden puppets and many of the cats on couches that Master 7 loves to give as gifts! Taxi driver waited for us and the round trip only ended up costing around Rp60,000.

During shopping trip my husband came over quite unwell, we raced home and bed is where he then spent the rest of the day. The kids and I swam and generally hung around together for the rest of the day. Late afternoon we got ready to head out to Nusa Dua for the Devdan show. Husband was still feeling very off so I decided to take the kids on my own.

Transport picked us us at 5.00pm and we arrived at Nusa Dua around 6.00pm. Kids and I wandered around Bali Collection (I think that is what it is called) next to the theatre and consumed our most expensive drinks of the entire trip Rp265,000 for 1 mojito and 2 chocolate milkshakes! Decided there and then that I probably can't afford to stay in Nusa Dua if this pricing is anything to go by!

Doors to theatre opened at 6.45pm and we headed in. Seats were great (row E seats 21,22,23) and we were at perfect stage height. Show started on time and we were treated to 90 minutes of a fantastic performance. I highly recommend the show to anyone who is coming to Bali and can spare the time to see it. Transport collected us from the gates at the end and returned us to Legian by 9.15pm. I wandered down to Shandy's after dropping off kids and picked up takeaway toasted sandwiches, fries and wedges for a late dinner.

Tuesday morning we started the day with breakfast at Hot Mango (Bali Court Hotel & Apartments) (1 cornflakes, 2 croissant, 1 egg benedict, 2 juice, 1 water, 1 pancakes) for Rp227,550. This breakfast was delicious and is so far the most perfectly cooked egg I have eaten in Bali. Kids loved cereal and pancake and husband loved the croissant with jam and butter (new zealand butter!).

After going back to BMA for cleaning up etc we decided to head over to Galleria so that I could go to Hypermart and collect some ingredients used in cooking class. Stopped at Matahari and bought some beautiful smelling perfume (2 for Rp610,000) but later realised that it is either branded differently for Asian market or is a Matahari special as I can't find it anywhere online. Not that it matters as I really love it and it settled really well onto my skin (husband loves it too!). Went to hypemart for the ingredients I was looking for - vanilla powder packet of 6 for Rp10,000, vanilla packet of 8 or so for Rp35,000, 8 pack mixed incuding saffron star anise and whole nutmeg for Rp15,000 and shrimp paste 20 pack for Rp3,850. Very happy with it all and very hopeful of getting it all home!

While at Galleria stopped for drink break at Mr Pancake. Enjoyed a fruit punch, blueberry iced tea and water for Rp67,000 and had lunch at Flapjacks (1 iced latte, 1 virgin mojito, 2 small choc shakes, 1 gelati, 1 silver dollar pancake with gelati scoop and original pancake stack with whipped butter) Rp261,693.

Valentines dinner with the family happened at Pizza Hut - very romantic :). We had 1 garlic bread, 2 salad bar, 2 kids dessert bar, 2 cold milo drinks, 1 coke, 1 fresh lime squash, 1 medium deluxe cheese pizza, 1 personal super supreme and 1 regular thin crust pepperoni for Rp309,001. The thick crust pizza tastes identical to Pizza Hut at home and is just what we were looking for that night!

Wednesday morning started with the alarm going off at 6.00am. We were being picked up at 7.45 to do the Bali Hai Lembongan Beach Club Cruise. Husband wandered down to Mugshotz to pick up some plain baguettes and coffees to take with us as the kids were not really having breakfast. Transport arrived on time and took us to Bali Hai at Benoa Harbour. Total cost of the cruise for us was $190 (2 adults and up to 3 kids) booked at one of the roadside stands (but not paid for until in the Bali Hai lobby). Upon arriving at the boat we were provided pastries, tea and coffee for the trip over. Boat trip was over in no time and we docked at the pontoon. We opted for the beach club so hopped onto the smaller shuttle boat for the ride to shore.

The beach club is lovely - well designed layout means that there are plenty of chairs around the grounds and the pool area is lovely. We set up poolside in a shady area and began swimming! There are many activities on offer that are included in the price (village tour, banana boat, snorkel, submersed boat) but we chose none of them, the kids simply wanted to swim all day and that is what we did! Lunch was a delicious bbq. The salads were delicious (and I am super fussy) there was rice, noodles seafood and pork satays, spring rolls and desserts. There was no limit to the amount of trips you could make to the buffet and it went down very well :) Tea and coffee were included all day but we bought reasonably priced non alcoholic ones during lunch. Noticed that other patrons at beach club were predominately Russian and Japanese with only a small smattering of other nationalities, however to our joy there was no smoking that we noticed making it a very enjoyable day for us. Around 3pm we headed back to the shuttle boats and before we knew it we were getting off back at Benoa Harbor and looking for our transport home! All together we were out for 10 hours and it was a huge day, but we really enjoyed it and still thought it good value even though we did not do the activities. Husband and I are thinking of returning to Lembongan Island when we return to Bali alone next time.

Finished up the night with a later dinner at Mozarella by the Sea (second trip), again not disappointed by the service, quality and food. (2 water, Black Pepper steak (cut with a normal knife!), bolognaise (kids and adult serve), mushroom cream pasta, 2 choc milkshake, 1 coke, 1 punch, 2 for 1 pinky mojito, bruschetta and potato & leek soup) Cost Rp490,500 however I have just looked at the receipt and realised they did not charge for dessert which was 2 choc lava at Rp45,000 each and 2 lots of choc icecream for the kids so add probably another Rp150,000 to that total. However, considering that the adults had 3 courses and the kids ate 2 courses I find this restaurant to be excellent value considering the superior standard of food and service staff.

Thursday morning (today) we did breakfast again at Shandy's (close and cheap with tasty food) Rp202,000 for 1 choc milkshakes, 1 iced latte, 1 cappucine, 4 serves of pancakes and 1 serve of toast. Its really quite bitey warm this morning so they put the portable cooler right in front of our table making it extra cool and comfortable. Did some DVD shopping on the way home. We are downloaders usually but find it hard sometimes to find series 1 of programs that are still running. We find Bali good for this as the quality is usually ok on the older things.

Not much else planned for the remainder of our trip (except for dinner to be had at TJ's and a return to Waterbom on the day we leave to tire the kids out!) so I am not sure if I will do another HNR or leave it for a JBR when we get home on Monday morning!.
