Today, I unlocked an Optus Mobile without charge.
1. I synchronised my iPhone with iTunes.
2. Rang 1300 075 395 and after a very long wait, I was connected to a call centre in the Phillipines.
3. The operator asked me for my IMEI code and my Optus mobile phone number. The IMEI code was found at Settings/General/About. I had to scroll down to find the IMEI code.
4. The operator confirmed my name and address and unlocked my phone.
5. I switched off my mobile and removed the Optus SIM. I replaced it with an active Telstra SIM and my iPhone worked. All my contacts, music and photos from my iPhone remained the same.
6. I then replaced, my Optus SIM and and connected to iTunes. iTunes told me that my settings have been changed. I accepted the change.
7. My carrier setting is set at Automatic, so when I change SIMs, the iPhone goes to the correct mobile phone carrier after a short delay.
8. For some reason, I had to re enter the password to my e-mail account.
