I have posted the first few HNRs below if you have not read about our trip before and want to know where we are up to!
Otherwise, read on and enjoy!
Saturday morning I woke to Master 7 standing over me and husband and Miss 4 gone. I wear earplugs due to husband snoring so its un-nerving to wake up to someone standing over you soundlessly! It was late by their standards (8.30) and I had actually had a decent night sleep so must have needed the extra. Got ready and headed out to find the others and have breakfast.
Located them at Nyakan Restaurant (out the front of Adika Sari). The staff remembered us from 18 months ago when we stayed there and we enjoyed a breakfast of toast x 2, pancakes x 2, banana pancakes, milkshake, water for Rp181,000. Disappointed to hear that at the end of April they are closing and the complex knocked down to build an entire new hotel.
Spent the rest of the morning relaxing - we find the middle weekend in our trips is a quiet one as everyone is tired from the first week of exploring.
Wandered around to Tommys for lunch (2 iced coffee, 1 water, 1 milo, 1 weetix, 2 chip buttys and 1 greek salad ) Rp116,000 - everything was great, value for money excellent and LOVE that it is non smoking! Jumped in a cab back to Carrefour to get more pool floaties for the kids and stock up on more essentials, then back to spend some well needed time in the pool.
Bali Zoo bus arrived at 4.30pm to pick us up. I booked the night tour, dinner and fire dance. The ride took about an hour from Legian in the very comfortable and cool bus. Arrived at the zoo, paid our Rp1,263,800 were handed some carrots and bananas and left to our own devices! Another group who arrived when we did were also feeling lost without any direction on where to go and what animals could be given the food we had! Our dinner meals were chosen at that time, no vegetarian option which was difficult for children and I as we don't really enjoy local meat.
Wandered around the zoo which was a mosquito haven. I must admit that the zoo is looking tired and run down with quite small caged areas for animals and a lot of areas where there are construction signs. No signs telling us what animals could be fed and no tour as such - just us wandering around alone as night was falling.
We reached the end of the zoo path having fed no animals with upset kids! Found the restaurant, were shown to a table and ordered drinks (first one included in package price) and to find that the gift shop was closing for the day with no chance to purchase anything. Still no-one giving any idea on what was happening and it was only by chance that we thought to hand in our dinner tickets to get them ordered!
Finally someone from the zoo came over and advised that animals were going to be bought out for handling and photos, followed by the fire dance.
A cat like bear (the name escapes me), a long yellow snake and a baby alligator were bought out, the husband kids and I had turns holding them with photos being taken. It was then that someone realised that our kids had all their animal food left, and they offered to take them back through the zoo and feed the animals. Kids happily went off with staff and torches to feed in the dark - we did wonder if they would be returning (lol). Food was served - it was fine, husband enjoyed his and we ate the chip and salad sides.
The fire dance was amazing, having never seen anything like it and was very entertaining for the kids too. Was odd though that at the end of the dance staff came to the table advising that was the end of the program and it was time to leave! Kind of like the host coming out in their pyjamas telling you to go home! Quickly finished our drinks, bought our animal handling photos (Rp478,000 for 3) before being hustled back to the transport for the ride home!
Sunday morning we headed over to the Ramada for breakfast. They only charged for adults (Rp290,400) for the full buffet that was very nice. We were able to sit in a non-smoking area that made it very enjoyable.
I then left everyone else behind and headed into Matahari for some shopping. It was additional 20% off kids clothing so I picked up some great t-shirts for master 7, party dresses for miss 4 (they were 2 for the price of 1) and general kindy wear for miss 4. Total cost of Rp590,820 for 10 items. Then headed to Bagus watches. Picked up the Loius Vuitton keyrings for Rp100,000 each and smaller kids ones for Rp30,000 each before heading back home for a relaxing afternoon and swim. Sent husband to mugshots for baguette and coffees in afternoon costing around Rp60,000 (but I think a little more as you pay a premium here).
Headed out for dinner at Pappas. This is one of our favourite places and the kids love the volcano pizzas and we love the atmosphere and staff. The manager remembered us from 18 months ago and took the kids away and spoiled them rotten. Dinner didn't quite live up to my memory (my steak was not as good as the Boardwalk one) but husband and kids loved theirs (vanilla milkshake, choc milkshake, 2 x mojito, 2 x shirley temple, volcano pizza, tuna sandwich, garlic bread, steak diane, tasmanian salmon, 2 x water) Rp897,215.
Walked back to BMA from Pappas (at the end of Melasti St on beach road in front of Alum Kul Kul) and for me a very long walk home! I arrived back exhausted and with kids have collapsed inside while husband goes back out to source the silver name bracelets for master 7 friends at home!
Heading to Devdan show tomorrow night at Nusa Dua Theatre so will update again after that show as I am aware there are a few people wanting to know how the show is!
