There are other classes of visa for business and residents that allow multiple entry, but none for tourist visas.
When you leave Indonesia your tourist visa is cancelled. When you re-enter you pay for a new visa. No way to get around purchasing the second visa, and also be aware that you will pay departure tax twice as well, Rp150,000 each person each exit.
