Thank you MrPhil. This is good advice. Codeine is a narcotic, narcotics are illegal in Bali. If you do get an over zealous official it doesn't matter whether you have an Australian script or not. To just help people to understand this. Some states in US legalize maruana for use for medicinal purposes, and it is given with a script. But, if they enter Australia, with or without a script or a letter from a dr, whatever, it doesn't matter, it is a banned substance in Australia. And this has happened many times at Australian customs. Same goes for codeine and some other strong pain killers in Indonesia. I too use codeine for chronic pain, and that is why I am aware of this. So it is peace of mind to do it correctly! If you look on any of the expat forums you will note many times that sometimes the Indonesian law does not make sense, but Bule (foreigners) can't win so don't try and fight it! And I am not trying to scaremonger anyone, just saying it like it is.
