Personally I use a 10" Netbook. I bought a Lenovo in Australia for $280 delivered. It came with both Windows 7 and Linux. It boots up in Linux in seconds and you are ready to surf the net or check emails or use skype. All sofware came preinstalled. It connects easily to wifi. Also as a back up I get a Simpati sim card that has data use as well. I can then use my phone as a wifi hotspot and then connect the netbook to that. It weighs 1.5 kg including the bag a bought to carry it. The battery has a 6 hour life. It has a full size keyboard. I prefer that to touch. It has a 250GB hard drive and 2 GB of RAM. It is just as fast as any notebook or my home system. I bought a wireless mouse for $30 as I prefer that to the touch pad.
