Comprehensive covers you from the time you take out the policy. When I rang to take it it out as i get a discount having used them several times was told that so many ppl leave it to the " last min" then say for arguments sake a family member gets sick or you can't fly or your destination gets hit by earthquake, flood etc they expect to be covered then they wonder why it's too late.
Some travel insurers don't cover credit card etc on their policy. Cover1 I have found to be one of the best around :)
