I think you would be better going from Legian as the roads will be a little better and more direct. If you go from Ubud, maybe the roads will not be so good. Use google maps to see where you will be passing through - it should be a lovely day. We really enjoyed Margarana and it was quite amazing to see how many lives were lost in that 1946/47 war. There is also a tribute to the 'unknown soldier'.
