Another new day in Bali, & unfortunately its raining again! We went down to the beach to try and get photos of the sunrise but no such luck, the sun was behind a large ominous cloud!
Back to our room, a cup of coffee waiting for the restaurants to open for breakfast. we went out just before 7 am and the rain came pouring down! we waited at the Wicked Parrot, hoping it might open, but no such luck! we could see The Porch across the road was open, so we went there and had a lovely breakfast. after breakky, jimmy our driver picked us up at 9.00. our original plan for today was the Safari and Marine park, but given the horrible conditions and a not very good forecast, we decided to change our plans.
We went for a drive too Ubud. went to Silver shop, and Batik factory on the way. I did a bit of shoping, but not much ( as previously mentioned I am finding the fixed price shops easier) although in all fairness the markets holders in Ubud started their bargaining at a much more reasonable price then the ones at Sanur! We had lunch at Pundi Pundi restaurant, having the ribs, which were delicious.
after Ubud, back on the road again, it has surprised me again how busy even Ubud has got over the last few years. photos of rice fields, and a drive to KlungKung. All of the art works and statues along the way were amazing, if only I could get them home!
Lots more traffic, and another warehouse on the way back. it seems to me that the shops, markets and traffic never ends.
home by 2.30. we gave the driver IDR 400,000 for just less then 6 hours, which I thought was really good. But, I am not so sure now after seeing some of the prices that villas will hire a car and driver out for a full day! never mind, we trusted him and he was funny and took us whereever we wanted to go - so we were happy.
after a swim, and an afternoon rest to try and reenergise, we woke up feeling really lousy! we dragged ourselves out to dinner and just had pizza at the Italian Restaurant just at the entrance to the Griya Santrian. Delicious pizza, quick service, great Mango smoothie! hmm, after that I started to feel better! so we managed to walk down towards Jl Sindhu - I bought some necklaces, three for 50,000! and some supplies from Circle K.
not the most exciting day, but still lots to see and lots of photos taken!
