Depends on your Australian Phone plan. Telstra charge extra. If you SMS another Telstra mobile in Bali the receiver also pays and it is not part of your free SMS allowance. So depending on your plan you could end up with a large bill. Contact your provider. They are all different.
That is why many get Bali Sim cards to fit an unlocked phone.
