the good thing about Nyepi is that the night before you get to see the Ogoh Ogoh festival, where huge papier mache monsters are paraded through the streets to ward off the evil spirits that have been inhabiting the island for the past year.
its a really good thing, and to have the island in complete silence is wonderful - its amazing the amount of 'white noise' that we hear every day but dont notice.
