Despite our suite at the KP being quiet, and the blockout curtains making it dark, I am still up before 6.00am. I am not bothered about the lack of sleep-ins now, all I think is that I am making the most of each day :-) I make a coffee & sit outside on the terrace with my Kindle enjoying the peace & quiet and watching the pool guy get ready for the day ahead. Hubby is up not long after & joins me for a coffee.

When Miss 5 wakes up just after 7.00am it feels like we've already been up for hours. Hubby notices that he has a missed call on his mobile from the night before & says "oh it was Jude, I'll give her a call". He has an old work friend who is here at the same time as us & we've said we'll catch up. I did warn him that it was probably a bit early for calling but would he listen? The first words out of Jude's mouth were "you can tell you guys are parents, do you know it's only seventeen minutes past 7.00??" He tells her to call him later LOL.

Hubby heads off for a surf & Miss 5 and I head off to breakfast and before you know she has made a new friend. We make arrangements to meet her new friend at the pool later (that child is a social butterfly!!). I wait for hubby to return so I can head off on my shopping trip solo.

I decide to walk up Double 6 to Jl Legian & then catch a taxi to Seminyak Square. I want to go to Silver Dragon to buy some charms for my Thomas Sabo bracelet. I only intend buying 2 but somehow end up with 5 (and a free T shirt). They have a really good selection but the bracelets themselves are disappointing.

My other stop was Lilla Lane (my favourite shoe shop in Bali). I buy a black version of a pair of sandals I already own & then head up Jl Laksmana to check out Kids A Gogo for Miss 5 and Perlu for more jewellery. By this time it's around 12.30pm & hubby calls to say that they're heading to Zanzibar to meet our friends for lunch. I'll jump in a taxi now & meet you there I say... about an hour later and I finally make it out of the taxi and into Zanzibar. Now I remember why every trip I keep saying that I'm only going places I can walk to!!

Lunch at Zanzibar is pretty average - I had chicken sate & although the chicken was moist & juicy, it was pretty tasteless & so was the sate sauce. Hubby had seafood mie goreng & he couldn't taste much besides garlic.

The friends we've met for lunch are staying at the Jayakarta so we decide to all head back there for a swim after lunch - detouring through the KP first so they can check out our room & the grounds.
I nearly booked to stay in one of the private apartments at the Jayakarta and I'm glad we didn't.

It was party central around the pool - loud music, lots of people in the pool drinking cocktails & bottles of beer. The pool was packed & you hardly had room to move. It was fun for an afternoon - Miss 5 LOVED it, all the goings on - but I wouldn't want to be there for a week solid.

We arrange to meet up again out the front of the Jayakarta at 7.30pm to head to Mykonos in Seminyak for dinner. Here we go again, sitting in a taxi in a traffic jam - this time in the pouring rain. Miss 5 is complaining of being hungry, then bored, then she falls asleep in my lap. We've taken the stroller in case she got tired at dinner so when we finally emerge at Mykonos, in she goes & there she stays for the entire duration of dinner! We hadn't booked & there were 8 of us so we had to wait 15 mins or so at the bar before we could get a table. Everywhere in Seminyak was packed to the rafters by the looks of things.

The food was fantastic - we had a Mixed Pikilia (tasting plate of olives, feta, dolmades, dip & pitta) for 2, a Beef Ragout with penne, a lamb platter & a 500ml carafe of 2 Islands Cab Merlot, plus water & a soft drink for RP 550,000. Worth every cent - especially the lamb platter. We tasted some of Jude's entree & I would go back just for that... the No. 10 "Sahanaki Garites" which is melted feta cheese with prawns, fresh tomato, oregano, dill & Olive oil. Do yourself a favour :-)
