must be the only place in the world where even the airport shuts down??? Have done a few Nyepi days now over the years and basically it's almost 2 x days of complete silence and darkness. One trip the kids had the TV on at night in a villa and the pecalang on patrol were quick to bang on the gate and with no English managed to let us know the TV must be OFF...not even candles were tolerated in the nightime. In the hotel in Legian we had been allowed candles on the verandah in the past. Make sure to stock up on reading material, drinks and goodies to eat as no leaving the premises.
