We awoke early ( which would come as a shock to anyone that knows me! I like to sleep in, especially when on holiday. but promised Dave I would try and wake up early!) It was raining ( we better get used to it!) but by the time we had a cup of coffee the rain had settled, so straight down the beach we went to see the sun rise. I am a amateur photographer so we spent a lot of time taking photos. it was cloudy but the sunrise was quite amazing and with the amazing little huts at Sanur they made for great foreground in the photos. it was very tranquil, quiet and lovely, i felt like I was home!
back to our room - I am tryng to make sure I dont push my luck with Daves health, but I was itching to get going! we went along the beach and had a breakfast ( our breakfast was not included, and I love to try somewhere different every day). we walked towards the Segara, and the Sindhu Beach markets. I have forgotten how pushy the ladies there can be, and I clearly needed to brush up on my bargaining skills!!! I bought a few things and spent far to much on them and told the lady it was her lucky day! two more shops, and two more bags full. oh well, I had to start somewhere. a tip for anyone going for the first time - go to Hardys first and check out the prices, so you have an idea what the right price is. the locals know when you are new and give the big sob story and start way to high. I ended up buying a lot at Hardys. great selection, great prices and mostly no need to bargain!
after a bit of shopping, back to our room and time for a swim. I think i mentioned in previous day that we had a room looking right over one of the pools. it was the quieter pool near the back of the property with a spa up the top - so we went in there for a cool down.
then we had a bit of a rest. The humidity was quite overpowering and although I love it and adjust really quickly, Dave found it a bit much! he was thankful for the air conditioned room and the fan. I sat on the balcony with a drink, even though the rain was sprinkling down on me!
In the afternoon we were going to Echo Beach house to meet some family that were in Bali at the same time, Our driver, Jimmy took us to Tanah Lot first. I havent been to Bali for a few years and I have to say I was shocked with how busy it has got. ( maybe because the last time I was there, was not long after the bombing)Tanah Lot waS packed with tourists, diffficult to photograph properly and very very hot.
Dinner at the Echo Beach House was great, we were there for hours and our driver just waited for us. food was good, not as expensive as I remember Jimbaran Bay. great atmoshere. unfortunatly it was cloudy so although I took some sunset photos, conditions werent great.
after dinner back to Griya for a late night swim.
our first full day was over!
