Hi, I have been lurking in the forum for a while Reading other posts and thoughts & enjoying JBR's so I feel it's only fair to try and do my own JBR after returning in the early hours of this morning. I wanted to do reports whilst I was there but Internet wifi was not as reliable as I would have liked.
My hubby and I left on Christmas morning, and although I have been a few times to Bali DH (dear Hubby) has never been before and was quite reluctant.
Because of his reservations I decided to book at Sanur rather then the busy Kuta or Seminyak and it was a wise decision. ( a trip to Kuta a couple of days later proved to me I had made the right decision)
We flew Virgin Blue and had no problems with the flight, all was on time and service was good. Apart from the fact that the seats are so close together and there is not much room for leg movement etc! The flight was full and noisy but nothing seems to matter when you are flying TOO Bali ( different story when you are flying home )
The plane stopped quite a distance from the terminal in Bali, so we had to get a bus from the plane to the terminal. We were lucky enough to be on the first bus. I have not been through Denpasar airport for about 7 years so I was not familiar with the new set up. However, I found it straight forward and we paid our VOA, proceeded tough customs and were out of the airport in less then half an hour.
Our pre arranged driver was there to meet us and within another 40 mins we were at Griya Santrian.
It was nice and hot- love it!
We were upgraded from a garden room to a pool view room. We had a lovely spot looking over the pool at the back of the hotel.
Our first walk along the walk way at Sanur, and I was astounded by the lack of people. At dinner Time there was hardly anyone there! I was really surprised. The restaurants and shops were complaining how quiet it had been for the last couple of weeks ( I think everyone is at Kuta!)
The room was air Conditioned and if you stood in front of the air con, it was lovely, but it was near the entrance and our bed was around the corner, and it was quite clear it could not work that hard. DH is not well ( he has cancer ) and he was not coping with the Heat so I knew he would not cope at night with the heat. I asked at reception if they had a fan we could use and sure enough, one was delivered to our room within half an hour and it did a great job! We were happy to buy one if necessary and if anyone thinks they might need one they are at Hardys for about $20.
We had dinner at the bonsai cafe, and although I looked in a few shops, I resisted the temptation to buy Anything on the first day!
